They discuss common misconceptions about the generational divide and how their organizations are enabling intergenerational learning and relationships through innovative digital platforms and housing approaches.

Samantha Gardner is currently completing her Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Alberta, with a major in Human Resources and a minor in Business Technology Management. Along with her co-founders, Aminah Beg and Jenna Mulji, Samantha created Sunshine Connected through Queen’s University and their Dunin-Deshpande Queen’s Innovation Centre. Their digital platform aims to increase learning and relationship building opportunities for older adults, through university students, and decrease loneliness and isolation amongst older adults across Canada. Samantha is passionate about her community, health-tech to improve older adult care, and change management consulting.
Jackie Tanner, MSW, RSW, received her BSW at Toronto Metropolitan University (previously known as Ryerson University) and her MSW at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto. Jackie is a gerontological social worker specializing in innovative approaches to aging in place, grief and bereavement, and social isolation. Jackie has worked across a diversity of settings including community-based mental health and private practice psychotherapy. She is an experienced group facilitator and mediator, and currently the National Manager and Clinical Lead for Canada HomeShare.
