Last week, Toronto played host to two key gatherings in global aging and brain health leadership—with CABHI at the forefront.
Hundreds of the best and brightest in aging and brain health from across the world came together to learn, discuss, and collaborate at Aging2.0’s Brain Health Forum—hosted at CABHI headquarters at Baycrest Health Sciences August 7—and at the International Federation on Ageing’s (IFA) 14th Global Conference on Ageing, August 8-10, sponsored by CABHI.
CABHI spent the jam-packed week building partnerships on a global scale, facilitating relationships, accelerating innovations, and sharing expert insight on the opportunities and challenges facing the sector today.
At the Aging2.0 Brain Health Forum, we brought together an international group of leaders representing a diversity of perspectives on aging. We heard firsthand from those living with dementia, caregivers, policy makers, innovators, and geriatric healthcare leaders.
Highlights included:
- A panel on ‘future frontiers’ in research, policy, and innovation featuring Dr. William Reichman, President and CEO of Baycrest, alongside Dr. John Beard, Director of the World Health Organization’s Department of Ageing and Life Course; Dr. Angus Grant, Director of the Dementia Discovery Fund; and Candice Chartier, CEO of the Ontario Long Term Care Association
- An illuminating panel of family caregivers and individuals living with dementia moderated by CABHI’s Managing Director Dr. Allison Sekuler
- An innovation spotlight session, where innovators from leading companies in brain health gave a five-minute pitch for partners to the audience—a speedy and effective way for valuable new relationships to be formed.

CABHI was well-represented at the IFA’s Global Conference on Ageing. Both Dr. Sekuler and Dr. Reichman presented on plenary panel sessions: Dr. Sekuler on switching gears in brain health and Dr. Reichman on disrupting the innovation landscape.
CABHI staff also led three dynamic workshops on the how-to of moving promising solutions through the innovation pipeline—ensuring great ideas become working prototypes and adopted solutions.
